WPPSI – Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Test
January 23rd, 2012

Are you aware that many private and public schools are now using WPPSI (or the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence Test) as an assessment tool among children entering Pre-K or Kindergarten? These institutions believe it’s best for children to take such IQ test for educators to determine their mental capabilities and discover their underlying potentials.

When the WPPSI exam was first introduced, particularly in New York City, many parents were against it. Many worried that if their children failed the test they would be deprived of quality education offered by prestigious schools in the city.

What parents don’t know is the fact that the conduct of intelligence tests for children is not merely for admission purposes alone but also for their child’s benefit. Through the results, teachers can identify the intelligence level of the children and determine whether they have what it takes to keep up with the demanding standards of the school or if they need extra help and care in certain areas.
