How to Best Prepare a Child for the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test®

The best way to prepare a child for any test is by making sure they are well rested, fed, and calm; the Naglieri Nonverbal Abilities Test® is no exception. Encourage your children to try their hardest, and not spend too much time on any one question (but not to rush, either). Make sure that they evaluate all of their answer choices carefully on the test.   You can also have your children work on practice questions for the NNAT®, hundreds of which are available to Top members of TestingMom.com. These questions will help familiarize your child with the concepts tested on the NNAT®, as well as help them get adjusted to the test-taking process.  Additionally, parents can utilize puzzles, blocks, and other simple visual pattern identification exercises to help their child strengthen their abstract logic and visual reasoning skills, which are the focus of the NNAT®’s assessment. Preparation is best done as early as possible; TestingMom.com CEO and co-founder Michael McCurdy suggests that parents start preparing now if they plan to have their child take the NNAT® during the next school year.
