Description

Create mesmerizing kaleidoscopic animations from a single sprite! Scratch is the best educational programming software for kids available today. With Scratch, you can create games and interactive art projects all while having lots of fun! No previous programming knowledge needed!

Designed by the MIT Media Lab’s Lifelong Kindergarten Group for 8 to 16 year olds, Scratch is a free programming environment that runs in your web browser. But Scratch users consist of people of all ages, including younger children with their parents. The software makes it easy for anyone to start developing their programming and problem-solving skills.

Students will be taught an introductory to coding by using the blocked-based visual programming language called Scratch. The students will learn the different code blocks and understand the possibilities. They will learn fundamental programming concepts by creating a computer game. They will design and code the game. This course creates a beginner foundation in programming which canbe used in other advanced languages. Students will be using critical thinking skills.

This class is very interactive and focuses on project-based learning. This class promotes teamwork, creativity and innovation. Students will have many opportunities to ask questions and help each other fix bugs in programs.

Hi my name is Andrea, and I am a Computer Science/STEM teacher. I grew up in Clinton Township, MI.

I am married with two children and teach in the same school district where I attended school.

Hey kiddos! I love being creative and coding! I can't wait to create games and animations with you.
