If your child has dreams of captivating online audiences with their gameplay strategy and personality, our YouTube Gaming Workshop is just the right place for them. In this class, students will join our talented and techy instructor on a fun and engaging crash course in each of the areas necessary to be a successful YouTuber in the field of competitive gaming: videography, recording, and streaming. Not only will students get hands-on experience with this rapidly expanding world, but they will acquire valuable technical skills necessary for success in a multi-billion dollar industry.

With over 2 billion active users today, YouTube is the most popular and diverse video streaming platform in existence. With more than 20 million gaming videos uploaded and counting, the YouTube Gaming community commands an impressive presence on the platform with 2 of the top 5 channels hosted on YouTube. Much of the creative content on this platform is driven by young and aspiring gamers who are high-achieving, inquisitive learners just like our amazing Testing Mom students.

Learning Objectives

In this class, students will:

Learn the operating procedures for the recording software, OBS.
Learn how to record in-game video clips and upload them to YouTube.
Learn how to effectively edit video recordings.
Learn how to provide engaging commentary to video streaming sessions.
Learn the basics for running a successful YouTube Gaming channel.

Materials Needed:

Recording software (Open Broadcaster Software-OBS)
Microphone
Camera (optional)
Video game for streaming (optional)

*Students will need a device that has Windows, or a Mac Operating system.

*Unfortunately, this class does not allow drop-ins. Each class builds upon prior classes.

Instructor Bio:

Hi, I'm Mr. Cardenas! I have 3 years of teaching experience with Elementary, Middle, and High School Students. I have over 6 years of experience tutoring Elementary to Freshman College Students. All kids have different learning styles and can not be taught the same way. Understanding how one student thinks, how one learns and processes information is key to a successful session. Not only that it will keep them engaged, and interested.
