Differentiated instruction is offered to children in their regular classrooms based on their interests, needs, and abilities. Formative assessment data helps teachers and gifted specialists to evaluate students’ knowledge base and ascertain their skills and needs to provide work and lesson plans that are appropriately challenging.

At the middle and high school levels, gifted learners enjoy multiple opportunities to pursue advanced curriculum through a variety of course options, including honors, AP, and dual-enrollment options at the high school levels. Gifted learners are able to meet their academic needs through advanced coursework in mixed ability classroom settings.

Gifted students in the Olentangy Local School District may also benefit from cluster grouping – a method of grouping identified students in the classroom with one teacher for designated gifted learning, while other students learn in mixed ability classrooms.

Direct services also provide gifted students with enrichment either in the regular classroom setting, or in gifted classrooms.
