Washington Highly Capable

Washington state has some of the most competitive gifted and talented programs in the nation within the Seattle metro area. Lake Washington School District spanning Redmond, Sammamish, and Kirkland leads these (along with Bellevue School District).

The State of Washington’s Highly Capable Program falls under the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. To be eligible for identification for a Washington Highly Capable Program, children must be enrolled in a public school district, charter school, or tribal-education compact school.  Each district within the state defines its requirements for identification for the Highly Capable Program.
