What is the WNV Test? The Wechsler Nonverbal Scale of Ability (WNV Test) is a cognitive abilities test developed by David Wechsler and Jack Naglieri. It is often used to identify gifted children from linguistically and culturally diverse populations, those with limited language skills, or individuals who might be hard of hearing or deaf since spoken language is not used to administer the test.
What material is assessed by the WNV Test? The WNV Test is considered culturally fair since it can be given to anyone regardless of his or her language abilities. Unlike other tests where instructions are explained in words to the person taking the test, the examiner informs the examinee of what they are to do through pictorial directions. Examinees are shown what to do through a series of drawings that the examiner points to.
