InView Test
What is the InView?
The InView Test is a nationally normed cognitive abilities test used by a number of schools to qualify students for gifted and talented placement. The InView acts like an IQ test, measuring a student’s ability to use information and apply it in new and different ways, evaluating how a student analyzes and employs higher-order thinking skills (including verbal reasoning, sequences, analogies and quantitative reasoning), and measuring a student’s cognitive abilities that are needed to learn and succeed in school.
The InView Test is a standardized cognitive abilities aptitude assessment that’s administered to students from 2nd to 12th grade. This test is often given along with an achievement test such as the TerraNova, allowing teachers to compare student achievement with that of other students of the same age, grade and ability – and determine whether a student is achieving up to their full potential.

Skill Assessment
The InView measures the skills and abilities directly related to a child’s ability to achieve academic success in the classroom by evaluating each student’s verbal reasoning, sequences, analogies, and quantitative reasoning skills.
InView focuses on cognitive abilities and reasoning skills – things that are not specifically taught in a classroom. The Quantitative Reasoning part of the test requires students to apply math skills they may have learned in class, but in new and different ways.
InView was standardized on a 2007 norm group. When used with a quality achievement test like TerraNova, InView provides achievement scores, which allows you to compare your child’s achievement with that of other students of the same age, grade, and ability—and determine whether your child is achieving to his full potential.
A reliable Cognitive Skills Index (CSI) is derived from five sub-tests, which offer 15 different types of questions within the following categories:
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Verbal Reasoning – Words
- Verbal Reasoning – Context
- Sequences – Verbal, Quantitative, Figural
- Analogies

I am wondering if this is a nomination type thing
What if you child who is so smart has teachers who are not going to nominate.
My daughter is in 5th grade at 9th grade reading level yet we have had this teacher in 4th grade ( lots of issues with bullies and I contacted the superintendent) then same teacher for 5th grade.
I tried to have her go to different school within District was dented by Principal at Madison Elelementary in Groveport.
Thankfully,She’s going to Jr.High now. I think her opportunities have been low compared to her sister ( different teachers and principal)who’s been in gifted classes from 5 th grade now in 9th doing 10th grade work.

My student needs to prepare for the Inview test. I’m considering membership, but need to know 1) how many practice tests you offer for Inview with membership? You also mentioned on your website that Inview test is conducted in conjunction with Terranova. 2) Are there any practice tests for Terranova on Testing mom as part of its membership? Kindly answer both questions.

With a paid membership, you’ll have access to our full InView and TerraNova sections. Our InView practice materials include 705 printable practice questions that are specific to the different subtests covered on the InView for children in grades 2 – 8. It also includes interactive questions. Within our InView section, we also cover materials from other tests that would be helpful when preparing for the InView, namely the CogAT, WISC-V and OLSAT.
Our TerraNova section includes over 4,000 printable questions from Kindergarten – 8th grade for this test, as well as interactive questions. These questions are not setup in a specific practice test format, they are arranged by grade level for the various subtests on the TerraNova.
