How I Work With Kids
- I encourage students to feel comfortable when learning by providing and explaining rubrics, examples, and supported practice before encouraging children to independently practice new skills.
- I implement a variety of activities and learning strategies to keep students active and engaged throughout each lesson to ensure learning and avoid "Zoom fatigue."
- I like to give comprehensive evaluations of my students' work by first emphasizing what students have done well, to build a strong foundation of mastered skills on which to add new and emerging learning.

What Parents Say
- “I wanted to let you know how Sai did on his CogAT test. He got a 124! This is a huge improvement compared to last year. The minimum is 130 which is a high bar, but after speaking with the principal they are going to let him take the advanced math course! Thank you so much for all of your help. Sai definitely gained the right skills and confidence while working with you!”
- My son’s face lights up each time he realizes his lesson with Heather is about to start. Heather connects with him so easily and she brings him out of his shell. She knows exactly how to manage the lesson when my son gets silly or loses focus so that he stays on track and gets the most out of their time together. She is joyful, engaging, insightful, and an incredible wealth of knowledge.
- My son describes Heather as “funny and kind and super smart.”
- In the time that my son has received reading and writing tutoring from Heather, his interest in both subjects has skyrocketed! He is excelling at school and his 2nd grade teacher has noted a huge improvement in his work. This is a direct result of his lessons with Heather. He loves reading the many books and reading sites Heather has suggested for him. We have learned several critical skills and acquired an array of resources that all my children will benefit greatly from for years to come.
