Literary Analysis Boot Camp: Claim, Evidence, Reasoning & Conclusion (4th - 7th Grade)

Literary analysis is an essential reading and writing standard in every school district that can be daunting for some students. Join Ms. Heather as she guides students through the essential steps of quality literary analysis writing, in addition to lessons in proper punctuation, grammar, and structure.

Course Instruction Will Focus On:

• Reading and interpreting classic and modern short fiction
• Reading and interpreting poetry
• Understanding the question/writing prompt
• Stating your claim
• Providing evidence from the text
• Properly incorporating quotes with in-text parenthetical citations
• Explaining your reasoning (how the quote supports the claim)
• Providing context, and writing a conclusion
