Summer Study Skills Tutoring is a flexible 5- or 8-session package that focuses on building the study habits, time management, and executive function skills essential for school success.

Who Is the Program For?  It’s designed for kids in upper elementary (a year or so away from starting middle school), middle, and early high school. Also, for kids who are already in middle or high school and are finding it difficult to manage all that’s being asked of them in this more challenging environment.

A Customized Program for YOUR Child.  You, the parent, will choose from a curated list of topics, based on your child’s specific needs. What skills do you think will be trickiest for your child to navigate – you tell us and our tutors will work on these skills with your young student.  Topics include:

–              How to focus and avoid distractions, even in boring classes,

–              How to organize their folders, notebooks, backpacks, and lockers,

–              How to take notes for focus in class and review for tests later,

–              How to break up big projects into smaller, more doable parts,

–              How to plan when to start big assignments so they can be done on time,

–              How to persist when the work is boring, hard or when faced with something more interesting to focus on,

–              How to manage your school calendar when juggling multiple assignments, projects and tests,

–              How to study for tests on their own, without teachers or parents holding their hand,

–              How to manage test anxiety and school stress,

–              How to start their homework when the work itself seems daunting to them,

–              How to keep track of time at home and at school,

–              How to conquer the urge to procrastinate,

–              How to go to their teachers for help or to advocate for themselves,

–              How to think about their own performance and how they might improve.

Kids aren’t born knowing how to handle these more complex school challenges – but they can learn how with the right instruction and coaching!  Whether your child is preparing for a new grade level, struggling with motivation, or simply needs to tighten up their academic habits, this program offers practical, personalized training that sticks.
