Parents looking for Houston Gifted and Talented practice are often at a loss as to where to start. The testing process can be complicated, and it can be difficult to track down practice materials. Fortunately, all it takes is a little research and preparation to make sure that your child earns a top score on the test.
The Houston Independent School District (colloquially called the “HISD”) has two different kinds of gifted and talented programs: Vanguard Neighborhood Programs and Vanguard Magnets. The Vanguard Neighborhood Programs cater to kids in the schools zoned for the programs.
The Vanguard Magnets consist of schools that accept students from throughout the entire HISD. The test for the Vanguard Magnet program, which consists of the Woodcock Johnson Tests of Achievement® – III and the Wechsler Nonverbal Scale of Ability™ (WNV™ test), is given four times each year.
If you’re looking for Houston Gifted and Talented practice, it’s important to first decide which program you would prefer for your child. Once you have an ideal road map planned out, it’s important to pull together materials that can help your child prepare for exam day. Sites like TestingMom.com have practice questions for the tests for each of these programs, and there are also plenty of free resources available for parents looking to bone up on Houston Gifted and Talented practice.
