Will the parents see the OLSAT test and answers after the NYC G&T exam?

We receive this question quite a bit from parents and the answer is “yes and no”. For the NYC Gifted and Talented Program OLSAT test, you do have the opportunity to review your child’s OLSAT test results, but you must schedule a time to go to the NYC Dept. of Education (located downtown at 400 Chambers St., near the courthouse) to see it. They are very stringent about the appointment to revie w the test ; you will only be allowed to see the exam in the ten minutes that are allotted to you once your scheduled time begins, so make sure to arrive on time! You cannot touch the OLSAT or Bracken test, take any type of notes, or photographs so try to remember everything you can when reviewing the test. I highly recommend that you take the time to go review the exam, especially if your child is in the high 80’s, on the cusp of making it in, so that you can see what your child has missed and which areas they might need to improve in for when re-take the NYC G&T test in the future.

Can we see the exam right after they take it or do we have to wait until the results are given?

You’ll have to wait until the results are sent then schedule time with the dept of ed or your testing center (depending on where you live) after the OLSAT test results are given.

Do they have the legal right to restrict a parent to viewing their childs exam to only 10 minutes. What can you really take away in only 10 minutes?
