Java - the official language for developing apps for the Android platform. Java is an objective-oriented and easy-to-handle programming language. For kids, the biggest motivation to learn the Java programming language is learning how to build on Minecraft. This interest of kids in Minecraft can be used to teach them how to use logic in Java, and solve several problems using the programming language. By learning how to code in Java, kids will find that will unlock skills and creativity which can be used to master and customize the Minecraft game.
Computer programming and software engineering have become an integral part of our daily lives whether we notice it or not. Many of the applications and programs that we rely on each day are run using the programming language of Java. Our Java course is designed to teach students the fundamentals of understanding and operating this language in order to create confidence in coding skills and the ability to utilize this learning experience in a variety of academic and professional settings. With the guidance of our instructors, students will engage in hands-on, project-based learning with the Java interface, culminating in a dynamic learning opportunity that will give them the edge they need to excel in STEM-related courses and the software industry.

Instructor Bio:
I have over 100 Hours teaching children from ages 7-17 in multiple different coding languages such as C#, Lua, Java, C++. I enjoy relating a child's love of video games to real-life applications. ie: Using Algebra to calculate a character's health! I also like making use of new digital technology to directly interact with my student' screens in conferencing applications like Zoom!
