Description

In this course, students will work with our instructors to practice specific approaches to each test question type for the quantitative portions of the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) test. Students will learn and practice math topics aligned with the common core ranging from basic to advanced math, namely, Number Sense, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra, Geometry, Measurement, Problem-solving, Statistics, and Probability.

We will build testing confidence through targeted practice activities. Students will study different approaches according to the question type and level of difficulty, and work plenty of practice questions to ensure they can successfully employ what they've learned when taking the actual test.

Learning Objectives:

  • Number Sense & Operations: order of operations, number patterns, mixed numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Geometry: coordinate system, shapes, angles, perimeter, area, and volume
  • Probability and Statistics: Chance, mean, median, and mode
  • Measurements and Unit Conversions
  • Algebra Basics: Equations and Expressions

Instructor Bio:

Hi, I'm Joseph! To keep my students engaged during sessions, I lead with questions and discuss the topics being covered rather than lectures. I value my students' curiosity and individual interests, and always praise them for their efforts, questions, and sense of humor. I firmly believe in developing long-term relationships with my students based on mutual trust, respect, and appreciation for each other's idiosyncrasies.
