How do I tell if my child is gifted?

There are many attributes of gifted children. Some children may be gifted in the arts, such as music and drawing, while others might be gifted with certain athletic abilities. When it comes to gifted testing in the schools it’s more on the academic side of being gifted. If you think your child is gifted review the list below of attributes of gifted children to see how many of the items below pertain to your child.

  • Has an excellent memory
  • Has a long attention span (if interested)
  • Sensitive (feelings hurt easily)
  • Shows compassion
  • Perfectionist
  • Intense
  • Morally sensitive
  • Has strong curiosity
  • Has high degree of energy
  • Prefers older companions or adults
  • Has a wide range of interests
  • Has a great sense of humor
  • Early or avid reader (if too young to read, loves being read to)
  • Concerned with justice, fairness
  • Judgment mature for age at times
  • Is a keen observer
  • Has a vivid imagination
  • Is highly creative
  • Tends to question authority
  • Has facility with numbers
  • Good at jigsaw puzzles
