Description

Through the language of coding, students will be able to communicate their knowledge and ideas on the Roblox landscape- all while having a blast!  In this week's course, we will get creepy! Students will build a delightfully scary, Halloween-themed obby (obstacle course) by coding color-changing blocks, developing multiple spawn locations, and tweaking their lighting to create dramatic in-game effects. In an Obby, short for an obstacle course, players jump from object to object while avoiding obstacles to get to the end of a level.

This class is for students who have completed the Roblox Studio Beginner Class!

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain confidence using the Roblox Studio interface
  • Explore core concepts of game development in Roblox Studio
  • Manipulate 3D parts to create an obstacle course.
  • Design and playtest a game, focusing on a fun user experience.
  • Create scripts using variables and loops for in-game visual effects.
  • Create multiple spawn locations as checkpoints.

Preparation:

Please make sure a Roblox account is set up prior to class, and each student knows their login information. Please Download and Install Roblox Studio here: https://www.roblox.com/download

Be sure to use a desktop or a laptop for this class as Roblox Studio cannot be accessed with a tablet.
